Overview

The Sony Alpha A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera is a terrific imaging unit that showcases some of the finer nuances needed in the current digital space. The camera showcases a 24.3 MP APS-C-sized Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processor, offering users with high resolution images and Full HD movies with marked low-light quality and sensitivity to ISO 25600. The camera’s intelligent Hybrid AF system makes use of the 179-point phase-detection system and 25-point contrast-detection system to give users precise focus.

Optics and Focus

The Sony Alpha A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera features a Sony E-Type lens mount. In addition to E mount lenses, you can use Sony A-mount and Minolta/Konica Minolta Maxxum lenses with the help of the optional LA-EA adapter. The camera utilizes a Fast Hybrid AF system which contains both the 179-point phase-detection system and 25-point contrast-detection system to give users precise focus. Since it is created with a Spatial Object Detection algorithm, this system employs the phase-detection AF points to get the subject into focus and then utilizes the contrast-detection AF points to refine the sharpness for guaranteed accuracy.

Sensor and Display

Equipped with a 24.3MP APS-C-sized Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processor combined, the Sony Alpha A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera helps generate high resolution and well detailed images with minimal noise and notable low-light quality and sensitivity to ISO 25600. The sensor uses an on-chip lens design to fill the gaps between neighboring pixels with optimized lens incidence to increase the camera’s light gathering ability and produce edge-to-edge sharpness and quality. The processor also provides a lot of speed throughout the camera system allowing a continuous shooting rate of 11 fps, and full HD 1080i/p video recording in multiple frame rates. Designed around a compact and lightweight profile, the Sony Alpha A6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera carries both an electronic viewfinder and a large rear LCD monitor. The Tru-Finder 0.39 inch 1,440k-dot OLED EVF that provides a sophisticated optical system to give users a 100 percent frame coverage and a wide 33 degree viewing angle for clearer edge-to-edge viewing. The 3.0 inch 921k-dot rear Xtra Fine monitor is a larger alternative, appropriate for making accurate compositions, reviewing imagery, and navigating the menu system. Additionally, WhiteMagic technology works to boost the overall brightness of the screen during bright or sunlit conditions.

Image and Video

The camera’s full HD 1080i/p video recording is sustained at both 60 fps and 24 fps frame rates giving users higher resolution movies with a smooth, cinematic look. The videos are recorded using the high-quality AVCHD codec, at the same time, 1440 x 1080 and 640 x 480 formats are also supported in the Internet-friendly MP4 format. The camera can record still images at a maximum resolution of 6,000 x 4,000 at an aspect ratio of 3:2.

Other Features

The camera’s creative style settings provide control over how the camera processes images. They are based on six different styles: Standard, Vivid, Portrait, Landscape, Sunset, and B&W. Built-in Wi-Fi enables you to instantly share images to mobile devices for direct sharing online to social networking, via email, and to cloud storage sites. Even NFC (Near Field Communication) is supported on the camera, thus allowing users to share images between the camera and compatible mobile devices.

Control Specifications
ISO Speed: Stills: ISO 100-25,600 selectable in 1/3 EV steps, Still Auto: ISO 100-25,000 selectable upper and lower limit, Movies: ISO 100-12,800 selectable in 1 EV steps, Movie Auto ISO 200-12,800 selectable upper and lower limit
ISO Speed:
The ISO speed setting dictates sensitivity to light. The higher the ISO speed, the more sensitive the film or digital sensor is to light. Higher ISOs have the effect of noise in an image. The actual ISO at which the noise occurs varies from camera to camera. Low ISOs are generally used for brighter lighting conditions and high ISOs are often used for low light or action shots.
