Overview

Recommended for professional photographers, the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF is designed to offer convenience and performance. Its optical design features four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements that reduce chromatic aberrations to improve picture clarity and maintain color consistency. This Sigma lens has a multi-layer coating on the lens that minimizes lens flare and ghosting effect to provide vibrant picture quality in dim-lit conditions. A Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) is incorporated in the lens, which offers quick and noiseless auto-focusing. The lens also allows using the focus manually by adjusting the focus rings. This Sigma lens reduces camera shake with the built-in optical stabilizer. It is compatible with Canon EF lens mount.

Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
