The newest entry in the Panasonic digital camera family is the Lumix DC-LX100M2 that offers stunning 4K quality videos and fast burst shooting of 7 fps. A LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMILUX zoom lens is fixed at the front, which provides 3.1× digital zoom and 6.2× intelligent zoom. To be true to its point-and-shoot nature, the camera embodies the POWER Optical Image Stabilization to cut down camera shakes during handheld operation. The 21.77 MP high-sensitivity MOS sensor with primary color filter ensures vibrant results for both photo and video capture. Compose the scene using either the OLED live viewfinder or the 3.0-inch touchscreen LCD. Link the camera to a smartphone via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth 4.2 LE for image transfer, remote control, and geotagging. On a fully-charged 1025mAh Li-ion battery pack, the Lumix DC-LX100M2 takes approximately 340 images using the rear monitor and 320 stills with the LVF.

Optics and Focus

The Panasonic Lumix DC-LX100M2 digital camera is equipped with a LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMILUX zoom lens with a variable aperture of F1.7–2.8. It provides a 3.1× optical zoom for shifting from a wide-angle to a close-up. The focal length can be increased further by using the 6.2× digital zoom. The optical construction of the lens uses 11 elements in 8 groups that include aspherical and Extra-low Dispersion elements for maintaining consistency in the sharpness and color throughout the zoom range. The fast autofocusing system of the camera includes various functions such as continuous AF, low light AF, and starlight AF. To capture pictures of a group or person, the Eye AF takes control of the scene to acquire focus on the subject. The focus stacking feature allows you achieve a deeper depth of field by taking images at different focus points and combining them into a composite image. With focus peaking, you can manually handle the focus parameter while maintaining precision.

Sensor and Screen

This Panasonic digital camera's imaging capabilities are powered by a 21.77 MP high-sensitivity MOS sensor. It has a color filter that ensures accuracy in the image colors. The camera comes with a 3.0-inch touchscreen LCD that gives a 1240k-dot resolution live view of the scene. An anti-fingerprint coating is applied on the LCD to resists smudges and fingerprint marks. The LCD also displays the histogram and allows zooming during playback. You may also frame the shot from the OLED electronic viewfinder that has 2760K-dot resolution and 100% screen coverage.

Image and Video

The camera takes photos with a maximum resolution of 5152×2904 pixels in JPEG and RAW formats. As for the video, the camera offers UHD 4K recording at a frame rate of 30 fps and Full HD 1080p at 60 fps. The continuous 4K shooting mode delivers a fast capture rate of 30 fps. You may also record Exif information of the captured photos. Different picture adjustment modes let you enhance the image quality further. The in-camera RAW processing helps you to simplify your workflow. Other imaging modes such as the time-lapse and stop-motion allow you to obtain unique results. In the camera, you may also add text, resize, and crop images as well as trim videos as per needed.

Other Features

The integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 LE connectivity can be used for transferring images to smartphones, remote controlling the camera, and geotagging photos. An electronic flash is bundled with the camera, which has a guide number of 7 m at ISO 100. It provides coverage of up to 14.1 m on wide settings and 8.5 m on telephoto settings. This camera is PictBridge compatible to enable direct printing from supported printers. Along with the camera, you also receive a carry bag and shoulder strap.

Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
