Megapixels:
A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Overview

Whether your subjects are up close or far away, capture them in stunning 1080p with the Panasonic HC-V180K Full HD Camcorder. It features a wide-angle lens with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 28mm. The lens has a large 50x optical zoom and 90x intelligent zoom range that brings the action up close. With 5-axis image stabilization and Level Shot, the camcorder delivers clear and stable looking handheld footage, even when zoomed in completely. It even includes a two-channel zoom microphone that keeps up with the lens to ensure a clearer audio capture.

Optics and Focus

With a 28mm wide-angle lens, the HC-V180K allows you to frame more people and more of the background when working in tight spaces. As it can fit all subjects in the scene when shooting up close, the camcorder’s microphone can get closer to the action to provide better audio pickup. It gets up and close to the action with the help of 50x optical zoom, which can be enhanced up to 90x using the intelligent zoom function. The intelligent zoom function uses digital zoom and advanced image upscaling technology to ensure crisper pictures and video. It includes a 5-axis Hybrid Optical Image Stabilization system that suppresses blurring and camera shake in your videos, which allows easier operation when shooting handheld videos. The image stabilization system compensates for pan, tilt, roll motions as well as camera shakes in horizontal and vertical directions. The camcorder includes a Level Shot mode that detects and corrects tilting in images automatically. It has three different levels - Off, Normal, or Strong, which can be selected according to the shooting conditions.

Sensor and Screen

The HC-V180K camcorder features a backside illuminated sensor that offers excellent low-light shooting capabilities with reduced noise. The 2.51 megapixel, 1/5.8-inch MOS sensor delivers image quality that is comparable to a CCD sensor but with lower power consumption of a CMOS sensor to provide longer battery life while shooting. The camcorder features a 2.7-inch LCD touchscreen offering a pixel count of 230,400.

Image and Video

Capture images in incredible clarity with the HC-V180K camcorder from Panasonic. It features a maximum still image resolution of 4224 x 2376 pixels. It records videos in MP4, iFrame, and AVCHD video formats in full HD 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second. The camcorder also features Creative Control Effects that let you have fun with your videos and give them an artistic flair. The effects included are miniature, 8mm movie, silent movie, and time lapse recording.

Other Features

The Panasonic HC-V180K Full HD Camcorder has an HDMI C (Mini), A/V and USB 2.0 output, which lets you connect it to a PC or TV with ease. The camcorder comes with 1940 mAh rechargeable batteries and a 5 VDC power adapter.

Detailed Specifications
Focusing System: Auto / Manual
Focusing System:
The type of focusing system used to capture a sharp image. Some simple cameras have fixed (infinity) focus. Most modern cameras have autofocus systems which determine the distance to the subject automatically. There are two main types of autofocus: active autofocus, where an infrared light (or a sonar pulse) is emitted by the camera and reflected by the subject, and passive autofocus, where the image transmitted by the lens is analysed for its sharpness by a detector inside the camera.

Minimum Illumination: 4 lx (Scene Mode Low Light 1/30), 1 lx (Night Mode (Color))
Minimum Illumination:
Minimum illumination indicates the minimum amount of light required to see a ‘useful’ image generated by a camera. It is measured with a light meter and the specification is expressed in lux. When comparing minimum illumination specifications, it is important to know the conditions under which measurements were made, because the specifications vary with parameters such as video levels, shutter speed, gain, and F-number.

Image Stabilization:
This is a family of techniques used to reduce blurring associated with the motion of a camera during exposure. Image stabilization helps in low light situations using slower shutter speeds.
