Paying homage to the original PEN-F film camera, the Olympus PEN-F Micro Four Thirds Camera Body Only - Silver features the same timeless design but packed with modern functionality. The PEN-F is a micro four-thirds, interchangeable lens system SLR that delivers a maximum image resolution of 5184 x 3888 pixels. The camera is also capable of recording full HD 1080p videos at a frame rate of 60 fps. It includes a 20MP 4/3 Live MOS Sensor that delivers stunning, high-quality images. The camera flaunts a 3-inch Vari-angle LCD monitor with touch control and tilting capability for added convenience.

Optics and Focus

The PEN-F camera features an autofocus system with multiple modes like Single AF, Continuous AF with tracking, and Manual Focus. It has over 800 selectable autofocus points with selectable magnification up to 14x. The system also features face and eye detection, and you can set priority on the focusing point to track either the nearest eye, the right or the left eye. The camera is equipped with a 5-axis, sensor shift image stabilization system to compensate for camera shakes. The IS system counteracts motion for yaw, roll, pitch, vertical shift and horizontal shift to ensure images are always blur-free. The PEN-F comes with the FL-LM3 flash, which is dust proof and splash proof. The flash unit is capable of bounce photography and offers intensity control up to ±3 EV.

Sensor and Screen

The Olympus PEN-F camera features a 4/3 Live MOS Sensor that achieves similar levels of image quality as a CCD sensor, but with low energy consumption of a CMOS sensor. As a result of the low energy consumption, the camera offers a live preview function. The Live MOS chip also includes noise-reduction technology to offer excellent image quality even in low-light conditions. The camera is equipped with a 3-inch Vari-angle display. The screen is a 1037k-dot, electrostatic capacitance panel that provides touch controls and even includes tilting capabilities to make shooting at odd angles a breeze. The new PEN-F camera also includes an electronic viewfinder. The eye-level OLED viewfinder offers approximately 100% field of view. The viewfinder includes a display grid, a 2-axis level gauge, and adaptive brightness and color temperature control.

Image and Video

With a maximum image resolution of 5184 x 3188 pixels, the PEN-F camera is sure to deliver stunning pictures. The camera captures images in 12-bit lossless RAW compression, JPEG + RAW, and MPO(3D still). It also includes a High Res Shot mode where you can click images equivalent to 50 megapixels i.e. 8160 x 6120 (JPEG) and 10368 x 7776 (RAW). It is even capable of recording full HD 1080p videos at a frame rate of up to 60fps. It records videos in MPEG-4AVC and H.264 formats with a maximum recording time of approximately 29 minutes.

The Olympus PEN-F Micro Four Thirds Camera Body Only - Silver offers TTL Image Sensor metering. It provides Digital ESP metering (324-area multi-pattern metering), center-weighted average metering, spot metering in AF target mode, spot metering with highlight control, and spot metering with shadow control.
