Rugged in construction and loaded with features, the Olympus TG-5 Digital Camera - Black is the perfect gadget for outdoor or adventure photographers. It boasts a 12 MP 1/2.3-inch BSI CMOS sensor and the TruePic VIII image processor, which work together for rendering your photos and videos with a great deal of sensitivity and speed. Making it easy to focus on subjects with unbelievable precision are the various focusing modes and the 25-point autofocus system. This tough camera is crushproof up to 220 lbf, IPX8 waterproof-rated for use up to 50-ft-deep waters, freezeproof down to -10° C, IP6X dustproof-rated, and shockproof up to 7 ft. The WiFi facility lets you transfer the captured videos and photos to a majority of gadgets and control the camera remotely.

Optics and Focus

The TG-5 is equipped with a built-in 4× optical zoom lens that offers an aperture of f/2–4.9 and a focal length of 25–100mm. The maximum shutter speed stands at 1/2,000th of a second, while the ISO sensitivity is adjustable between 100 and 12,800. The 25-point autofocus system and the numerous focusing modes are useful for automatically focusing on subjects with outstanding precision. The Sensor-Shift image-stabilization function makes it possible to take blur-free shots with little effort. Use the flash and exposure modes for aiding in a variety of photography scenarios.

Sensor and Screen

The Olympus TG-5 Digital Camera’s 12 MP 1/2.3-inch BSI CMOS sensor lets you shoot high-quality pictures and 4K footage. The 3-inch, rear, LCD screen provides a 460 k-dot resolution and a 100% screen coverage for browsing menus and viewing the captured content with impressive clarity.

Image and Video

In addition to capturing RAW and JPEG photos at a resolution of up to 4000×3000 pixels, the TG-5 Digital Camera from Olympus records high-quality 4K footage at a maximum resolution of 3840×2160 pixels at 30 fps in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and MOV formats. You may also capture an unlimited amount of JPEG frames and 14 RAW frames continuously at a burst rate of 20 fps. The four underwater modes, viz., macro, wide, snapshot, and HDR, are useful for taking clearer and creative photos while shooting underwater. You may also conveniently capture time-lapse shots with the help of the interval timer at intervals of 1 second to 24 hours. Up to 299 consecutive shots can be taken under this feature.

Other Features

The Olympus TG-5 Digital Camera’s built-in WiFi connectivity enables you to control the camera remotely and transfer your captured videos and photos to a majority of gadgets. The Field Sensor System consists of a temperature sensor, manometer, compass, and GPS module for noting down important data when shooting outdoors. Apart from being rated IP6X for resistance to dust, this camera is IPX8 waterproof-rated for use at depths of 50 ft, freezeproof down to -10° C, shockproof up to 7 ft, and crushproof up to 220 lbf. In case the space in the camera’s 55 MB internal memory runs out, you may expand it by inserting an SDXC, SDHC, or SD memory card. The Art Filters and Detail of Art Effects, along with the Picture and Scene modes allow you to express your creativity on your imagery.
