The Nikon D3500 is the new DX-format DSLR aimed at entry-level photographers. It is bundled with a Nikkor 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR lens. The camera uses the 24.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 image processor to take photos and videos with accurate colors. For 1080p video recording, the camera offers a maximum frame rate of 60 fps. The continuous shooting mode also takes burst pictures at 5 fps. You can frame the scene using the 3.0-inch LCD or optical viewfinder. The Active D-Lighting feature retains the shadow details and highlights to make the image look realistic. This all-new Nikon DSLR has a redesigned compact body that is lighter than its predecessor. All the controls are located on the right side for convenient handling.
The Nikon D3500 is supplied with a Nikkor 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR lens. You may also attach other Nikon F-mount lenses to the camera. The included lens uses 12 elements in 9 groups that contain two aspherical lenses to correct spherical inconsistencies. Moreover, the Super Integrated Coating improves light transmission by reducing ghosting and flare. A pulse stepping motor is integrated into the camera to keep the focusing noise down. The Vibration Reduction image stabilization ensures a smooth movement when taking handheld shots. As for the camera, it uses the Nikon Multi-CAM 1000 autofocus sensor module with TTL phase detection. You can select the focus point from the given 11 AF areas. The focus system can work in the EV range of -1 from +19 at ISO 100.
The Nikon D3500 renders high-quality photos and videos with the 24.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor. It has omitted the low-pass filter to enhance sharpness. The 3.0-inch LCD offers a 921K-dot resolution view of the scene. It provides a wide viewing angle of 170° and screen coverage of 100%. You can also use the optical viewfinder for image capture, which has 0.85× magnification and adjustable diopter of -1.7 to +0.5 m.
This Nikon DSLR takes 24 MP photos at a maximum resolution of 6000×4000 pixels. You can choose the JPEG format for quick image sharing or the RAW format to control the image look in post. The camera records videos in 1080p at a maximum frame rate of 60 fps. Select the 24 fps frame speed for a film-like feel. The EXPEED 4 image processor boosts the camera performance to aid the 5 fps continuous shooting. With the Active D-Lighting function, the camera ensures both the shadow details and highlights are preserved. The in-camera editing features let you decide the final look of the image.
The SnapBridge feature in Nikon D3500 allows you to connect your smartphone via Bluetooth for automatic image transfer of 2 MP images. With the built-in pop-up flash, the camera can take photos in low light. You may also fix an external flash on the top hot shoe. The flash compensation can be adjusted from -3 EV to +1 EV in 1/3 EV increments. Set up the self-timer to remotely trigger the shutter release at 2, 5, 10, and 20 seconds. An EN-EL14A Rechargeable Li-ion battery is provided with the camera, which enables it to take 1550 stills per charge.
