A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Robust & tough

Rated 4.0 out of 5 stars.

The X-T1 is pretty robust and weather resistant, though the body is heavier than it looks for its small size. The grip could certainly have been better, but otherwise the people at Fujifilm have definitely put their heart and soul into the design of this camera, with the most impressive EVF around! Though it is compact, the image quality is upto the standard of DSLR cameras. The reproduction of colors and details is stunning. Do not use it for videos though—it will not give a very impressive quality. I like the Fujifilm Camera Remote app, good integration of ‘smart’ features.

Awesome viewfinder

So everyone knows that the main attraction of the X-T1 is its unprecedented electronic viewfinder. At 2.36million with an insanely high 0.77x magnification, this can give all other cameras a run for their money. I was so excited when the product hit the market and bought it immediately, and I can safely say that the X-T1 has not disappointed me at all. So many other pros to list out here—the shutter noise is so discreet, the color rendition is beautiful, low as well as high ISO speeds give noise-free images of great quality. My best electronic purchase so far!

Okay video features

Fujifilm has really brought its A-game forward with the X-T1. But its movie mode is not the best feature of this camera, so if you are looking for a device especially for video, this might not be the best choice. However, for all those who want a good compact camera with amazing image quality, along with decent video features, go for it. My experience so far has been great and I have no complaints with the image performance of this camera. I usually take still shots in Fine JPG and I am absolutely impressed by the quality it delivers.

Grip feels a bit too small

Rated 3.0 out of 5 stars.

Fujifilm has broken all records with its EVF, one they’re touting as the biggest and fastest multi mode viewfinder ever. At a 2.36 million dot resolution, this viewfinder has taken my shooting experience to a whole new level. The handling here is not that great, I feel the grip isn’t big enough for my hands. Another minor gripe are the buttons—too many squeezed in too little space. This camera is dust-resistant and water-resistant, but we are yet to hear from Fujifilm regarding weatherproof lenses; I hope we don’t have to wait too long.

Complete package

Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The Fujifilm X-T1 is the complete package. The photographer community has been so excited ever since this model was announced, and why not? This camera offers image quality of the standard of SLRs, albeit in a sleek package. The controls are good and the user interface is crisp and easy to understand. The image quality that this small camera delivers will surprise you, and its AF system is the best so far for a mirrorless camera. The choice of lenses is also pretty convincing. But the viewfinder takes the cake here though—it is simply mind blowing!
