The Canon XA45 4K UHD Pro Camcorder is designed for fast performance in both capture and transmission, & is excellent for the world of Electronic News Gathering (ENG) as well as documentary, journalistic, corporate & higher education video production. The camcorder features an advanced 4K UHD CMOS Pro Image Sensor, as well as a powerful DIG!C DV 6 Image Processor. Its remarkable 20x High Definition optical zoom lens records expansive, high-quality 4K UHD video. Its dual SD card slots are compatible with universal SD, SDXC & SDHC memory cards, which provide super-high capacity & ultra-fast data transfer. Its 3G-SDI terminal lets it quickly transmit uncompressed video with timecode & embedded audio to broadcast vans & workstations. The compact XA45 features a detachable handle for low-angle shooting & portability. Its XLR inputs & an external microphone holder are featured when the handle is attached. Made with a lightweight design, the XA45 has 1.56 million dot electronic viewfinder, & a 3.0" capacitive touch panel LCD, making it comfortable to operate for longer periods of time & in many different types of environments.  This powerful & compact camcorder delivers the speed, quality and connectivity to drive a 24-hour news workflow.

Optics & Focus:
The XA45 Professional 4K UHD Professional Camcorder features a Genuine Canon 20x High Definition Optical Zoom Lens that provides a highly versatile zoom range (with a 35mm equivalent of 29.3-601mm) to help you record newsworthy videos. The remarkable image quality is enhanced by an 8-blade Circular Aperture design, which helps you to avoid the “starburst” effect of point light sources that are commonly found in non-circular aperture designs. The XA45 also features an endless-type focus, & zoom control includes user-programmable direction, as well as sensitivity modes. A number of different levels (16 to be exact) are offered, allowing you to set your zoom speed as a variable, or at a constant speed. Included are fast, normal, and slow speed levels. To enhance your focusing experience, the XA45 Professional Camcorder features "Focus Assist". This feature includes enlargement, which helps you capture your subject in razor-sharp focus. The focus assist feature provides you with a 2x magnification of your subject, which is automatically cancelled when you start recording. The out-of-focus areas of a recording will appear natural and smooth.

Sensor & Screen:
The XA45 Professional Camcorder features a 1/2.3", 8.29 Megapixel 4K UHD CMOS Pro Image Sensor, that captures approx. 3840x2160 pixels, for incredibly sharp & detailed high-definition video recording. The sensor's high sensitivity provides vivid & accurate recording through an excellent signal-to-noise ratio. The XA45 features a low-luminance noise rating of +3 dB, making it able to capture clear, sharp images with incredible detail (even in low light).

The 3.0" (460,000 dot) LCD display provides high constrast & vivid color. Its wide-view angle (over 80 degrees at all angles) assists in composition versatility, & regular chromaticity adjustments, which help produce correct brightness & faithful color reproduction.

The 0.24" tilt-type color electronic viewfinder has 100% field of view, & 1.56 million dots of resolution help provide critical focus adjustment, with peaking applied if necessary. The viewfinder can tilt up to 45 degrees for low-angle shooting. To the right of the viewfinder if a joystick, where the thumb rests, which allows for control of camera settings on the viewscreen.

Image & Video:
The XA45's "Over Sampling HD Processing"  feature enables Full HD recording by using the remarkable capabilities of the 4K UHD CMOS Sensor. The XA45 delivers truly excellent image quality & reproduction for any news-gathering application. Its 20x Optical Zoom Video lens works with the Pro Image Sensor & the powerful DiG!C DV 6 Image Processor to capture and process the images.

The XA45 Professional Camcorder offers a strong optical image stabilization system which is designed to help reduce image blur in a number of shooting situations. The different image stabilization options can be selected manually, or  by using "Intelligent IS", which can use an automatic detection system to choose the proper stabilization mode. "Dynamic Mode" is used for image stabilization at the wide end, & builds on translational stabilization, adding roll axis correction, vertical roll correction & horizontal roll correction for five-axis correction. This allows for Image distortion to be reduced, even when shooting while in motion. "Macro IS" corrects angular & shift-type shake in wide-angle shots. "Powered IS" is used for image stabilization in telephoto shooting, & corrects for low-frequency camcorder shake.

Multiple recording modes, resolutions & frame rates make this camcorder creatively flexible & adaptable to virtually any news-gathering environment. It can record to an SD, SDHC, or SDXC card in 4K UHD & Full HD resolutions using MP4 format, at multiple bit rates, and can record simultaneously.

Slow & Fast Motion Modes allow the XA45 to record a different frame rate than the playback for a fast or slow motion effect. Since the camera is recording real frames & modifying the playback rate, there is virtually no quality loss, & the footage is able to maintain its usual high-quality. Interval recording is also included to record frames at specified intervals, allowing for time-lapse recording s of up to 1200x, & slow motion down to 0.4x.

Dual Recording offers format choices that are useful for post-production purposes. The DiG!C DV 6 Image Processor & dual SD card slots allow for simultaneous recording in MP4 format, at different bit rates.

Native 24p matches the frame rate of a traditional film camera, giving the same feel & temporal motion for "film-like" quality, which is a must for serious documentary videographers.

The XA45's Infrared Mode allows you to capture video in conditions with little to no ambient light. The XA45 can shoot at brightness levels that are approx. 1.4 times more sensitive, & allows low-light capture by removing the infrared cutoff filter from the optical path. Its specially designed lens allows the infrared light to pass through to the image sensor.
