30.4 MP
Megapixels:
A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Overview

The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Digital SLR Camera comes with a 30.4 MP CMOS sensor and DIGIC 6+ image processor for generating high-quality photographs and recording 4K videos. This camera accepts Canon EF mount lenses. It employs both 61-point High-Density Reticular AF and dual-pixel CMOS AF systems. The ISO sensitivity of the camera can be increased to 102400, and the shutter speed to 1/8000th of a second. A 3.2-inch LCD screen and pentaprism viewfinder help in image composition and live monitoring. This camera comes with a dedicated eTTL flash system. A hot shoe and a PC terminal are provided for attaching an external flash. The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV camera has built-in WiFi with NFC and GPS.

Optics and Focus

The exposure modes in the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV include two that are based on shutter and aperture priority. The program auto exposure adjusts both aperture and shutter speed values to achieve the appropriate exposure in a scene. The mirror-lock function prevents blurring when using long exposures or when operating on the continuous-shooting mode. The 61-point High-Density Reticular AF system comes in handy when shooting in the photo mode. It includes up to 41 cross-type points for accurate focusing performance. In the video mode, the dual pixel CMOS AF system smoothens the focus transition when tracking a moving subject. The camera has electronic and mechanical shutters with a maximum speed of 1/8000th of a second. The native ISO limit of 32000 can be increased to 102400 in the extended mode.

Sensor and Screen

The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR is equipped with a 30.4 MP full-frame CMOS sensor that captures vivid details in images. With the 3.2-inch Clear View II touchscreen LCD, the camera lets you monitor live footage in 1620k-dot resolution, even from a 170° diagonal angle. Also, the LCD has an anti-reflective coating to prevent reflections when viewing it in bright light. The pentaprism viewfinder offers a 0.71× magnification and a diopter adjustment from -3 to +1 m. You get 100% screen coverage from both the LCD and the viewfinder.

Image and Video

This Canon camera can take 14-bit still images with a maximum resolution of 6720×4480 dpi in both JPEG and RAW formats. It can also capture videos in DCI 4K quality at 30 fps. In the continuous-shooting mode, the camera can click up to 21 frames at the rate of 7 fps. The DIGIC 6+ image processor of the camera reduces noise when shooting in low light with a high ISO. Moreover, the Digital Lens Optimizer technology reduces chromatic and spherical aberrations, peripheral brightness, and diffraction.

Other Features

The Canon EOS 5D’s built-in WiFi with NFC enables sharing of the captured images and videos to other devices. A hot shoe and PC terminal enable connecting an external flash. With the self-timer, you may delay the shutter release by up to 10 seconds. With the integrated GPS, you may tag your location on the image and synchronize the time with the universal time code. This camera is powered by an 1865 mAh LP-E6N rechargeable Li-ion battery.
