Overview

The Panasonic LUMIX S1R Full Frame Digital Mirrorless Camera comes with various upgraded functions that benefit both video and photo applications. It is paired with a Panasonic 24–105mm F/4 lens. The 47.3 MP full-frame MOS sensor ensures enhanced low light performance for crisp image quality. With the camera, you can record 4K videos as well as take 4K burst shots at 60 fps. A 6K continuous shooting mode is also featured in the camera, which offers a maximum capture speed of 30 fps. The HLG photo function lets you take photos with a wide dynamic range to get control over the image look. Take advantage of the Dual IS that combines the in-camera image stabilizer with that of the lens' to provide compensation up to 6 stops. The DFD technology utilizes advanced algorithms to keep the focus point pinned on the object whether it is stationary or in motion. You can compose the scene with the OLED live viewfinder or the 3.2-inch triaxial tilting LCD. Remote control and wireless photo transfer is possible with the integrated Wi-Fi or Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity.

Optics and Focus

The Panasonic LUMIX S1R mirrorless camera has a Panasonic LUMIX S 24–105mm F4 Lens provided with it. You may also fit other L-mount lenses. The lens has 16 optical elements in 13 groups that include 2 aspherical and 2 ED glasses to correct chromatic and spherical aberrations. You can use the lens for macro photography to take pictures from a minimum focus distance of 0.3 m. The lens' AF motor bonds with the camera's DFD autofocus technology to give a quick response in 0.08 seconds. You can autofocus on objects even in low light down to -6EV by referring the Low Light AF marks. Use the Face and Eye Detection features for accurately focusing on subjects to capture perfect portrait shots. The Advanced AI Technology identifies the subjects even when they have their backs faced to the camera. This Panasonic camera houses a mechanical shutter that can last for up to 400000 images approximately.

Sensor and Screen

The Panasonic LUMIX S1R handles image capture in low light conditions with the 47.3 MP full-frame MOS sensor. Its low pass filter omitted to enhance the image sharpness. An aspherical lens is placed on the sensor, which increases light condensation. Moreover, the AR coating applied on the sensor to prevent ghosting and flare in back-lit shots. The 3.2-inch rear LCD has a triaxial tilting design that allows you to frame the shot from a high or low angle. You can use the 5760k-dot OLED live viewfinder for compositing the scene from the eye level. The EVF allows you to set the refresh rate at 60 fps or 120 fps to get smooth movement when tracking fast-moving objects.

Image and Video

The Panasonic LUMIX S1R mirrorless camera takes photos with a maximum resolution of 8368×4712 pixels in either JPEG or RAW. The sRGB and AdobeRGB color space allow you to add various effects in popular photo editing software. In the video mode, the camera records in 4K resolution at a frame rate of 60 fps that is equivalent to most industry-standard camera systems. You can take continuous shots at 30 fps with the 6K burst photo capture and 60 fps by using the 4K continuous shooting mode. The AWBw mode adjusts the skin tone to a reddish tint when shooting under fluorescent lighting.

Other Features

The LUMIX S1R features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity that lets you send captured images to smartphones as well as control the camera remotely. You can also copy the camera settings to transmit it to other S1R cameras. The dual memory card slots are beneficial when setting up the camera for long shooting schedules. There are dedicated audio ports for microphones and headphones to record and monitor sound. You can tether the camera to your PC via the USB port. The camera is powered by a 3100 mAh Li-ion battery pack.
