Overview

The Fujifilm GFX 50R Medium Format Mirrorless Camera is designed for serious amateurs and professional photographers alike. Along with the camera, you get the Fujifilm GF 45mm f/2.8 R WR lens. The combination of a 43.8×32.9mm medium format CMOS sensor and an X-Processor Pro engine produces high-resolution results with vivid colors and smooth skin tones. With the camera, you can record Full HD videos and take burst shots at 3 fps. The Fuji GFX 50R features the 35mm format mode that provides a 36.0mm×24.0mm cropped image in JPEG and RAW, mimicking the aspect ratio of 35mm film rolls. Compose the scene from high or low angles with the 3.2-inch tilting LCD. The mechanical exposure compensation and shutter speed dials make easy to determine the right exposure for the scene. Two SD cards can be used simultaneously or in a relay for extended shooting time thanks to the dual SD slots. The customizable function buttons can be assigned with user-favorite functions of quick access. This Fujifilm camera has a durable weather-sealed body that ensures functionality in temperatures as low as 10°C.

Optics and Focus

The Fujifilm GFX 50R works with the provided GF 45mm f/2.8 R WR lens to take crisp medium to close-up shots having a shallow depth of field. You may also mount other GF lenses on the camera as well. The lens construction has 11 elements in 8 groups that include 2 Extra-low Dispersion and a single aspherical element to combat chromatic and spherical aberrations. A Nono GI coating is applied to the optical elements to suppress ghosting and flare. The internal focusing motor ensures consistent performance down to 45 cm as well as maintains the overall length of the lens. With the physical aperture ring, you can easily adjust the aperture value. The rounded 9-blade diaphragm produces circular bokeh in the background to enhance the picture quality further. The TTL contrast detection AF system allows selection focus area points in three different ways to get the desired results. With the Touch AF function, you can select the area of interest by tapping a particular spot. The manual focus mode is complemented by the focus peaking function to give you an idea of which objects are accurately focused in the frame.

Sensor and Screen

This Fujifilm mirrorless camera works on a 51.4 MP 43.8×32.9mm medium format CMOS sensor to produce high-quality photos and videos. The improved light-gathering of the sensor provides a wide dynamic range of 14 stops, which can be utilized in an image editing software to obtain professional results. A 2.36M-dot touchscreen LCD is located at the rear, which can be tilted to facilitate low or high angle shooting techniques. The 3.69M-dot electronic viewfinder provides a live view for eye-level image composition and exposure adjustment. Both the EVF and LCD cover 100% of the screen space to get precise image composition.

Image and Video

The Fujifilm GFX 50R offers a maximum resolution of 8256×6192 pixels for the still images. You may select the JPEG format for quick sharing of photos, or the 14-bit RAW to modify the look of the image during post-processing. The movie mode of the camera enables Full HD 1080p video recording up to 30 minutes approximately. Powered by the X-Processor Pro engine, the camera can take burst images up to 13 frames for JPEG and 8 frames for RAW at 3 fps. The 15 film simulation modes add uniqueness to the captures photos to give variety everytime you wield the camera.

Other Features

The built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity make it easy to transfer images to smartphones. You can also trigger the camera remotely via the Fujifilm Remote Camera app. The camera also allows geotagging by synchronizing with the GPS of your mobile. Use the drive button to switch between continuous, auto-bracketing, and video shooting. The dual SD card slots double the overall shooting time. You can attach an electronic flash head on the top hot shoe for flash photography. The camera body has weather-resistant seals that protect the internal parts from dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures. On full charge of the included NP-T125 Li-ion battery, the camera takes up to 400 frames approximately.
