Megapixels:
A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Overview

The Fujifilm GFX 50S Mirrorless Camera offers a wide dynamic range along with high sensitivity in low light. A Fujifilm GF 32–64mm f/4 R LM WR lens is provided with the camera. The camera has a 51.4 MP CMOS sensor that offers a 14-stop, wide dynamic range. Also, the X-Processor Pro contributes to Full HD video recording at 30 fps and continuous shooting at 3 fps by boosting the processing speed. The 3.2-inch 2.36m-dot LCD touchscreen enables easy menu browsing. Additionally, the LCD can be tilted for low- and high-angle shooting. With the dual UHS-II SD memory card slots, you can prioritize one storage space and keep the other as secondary. The built-in Wi-Fi lets you send images to smartphones and control the camera remotely. Use the voice memo function to keep a note of shoot details in a 30-second audio file.

Optics and Focus

The Fujifilm GF 32–64mm f/4 R LM WR lens takes stunning portrait as well as wide-angle shots. Other Fujifilm G-mount lenses can also be used with this camera. The optical design of the included lens features three aspherical, one Super ED, and one standard ED elements. In all, the optical construction involves 14 glass lenses arranged in 11 groups. The front element has a fluorine coat that keeps off moisture. This lens offers a quiet and accurate autofocus with its linear AF motor and internal focusing mechanism. All nine blades of the diaphragm are round, which helps in creating a pleasant bokeh effect in the background. Its dust- and weather-sealed design makes it possible to use the lens in inclement weather. As for the camera, it utilizes a 117-point contrast-detection AF system that spreads across 425 points. The focus-peaking feature offers assistance in manual focusing.

Sensor and Screen

The 51.4 MP CMOS sensor of this Fujifilm camera produces smooth tone and color gradations. You may live-view scenes or playback videos and photos on the 3.2-inch 2.36m-dot touchscreen LCD. The LCD has a tilting design to facilitate high- or low -angle shooting. Alternatively, you may look through the 3.69m-dot OLED EVF to compose shots. Both the LCD and EVF offer 100% screen coverage.

Image and Video

The Fujifilm GFX 50S captures 51.4 MP images at a maximum resolution of 8256×6192 dpi in JPEG, RAW, JPEG+RAW, and TIFF formats. It also records videos in 1080p at a frame rate of 30 fps by switching to the movie mode. You may take unlimited burst shots in JPEG, 13 lossless in RAW, and 8 uncompressed in RAW at a speed of 3 fps. The film simulation modes, such as Provia, Velvia, and Astia, can also be used during photography or videography.

Other Features

The built-in Wi-Fi makes it easy to transfer captured images to smartphones. Also, you can wirelessly control the camera with your mobile. An external flash can be fitted on the camera's hot shoe. You may set one of the two SD card slots as primary and the other as secondary to manage memory space during extended shooting schedules. The voice memo function helps in keeping notes of shoots in a 30-second audio log. On a fully-changed NP-T125 Li-ion battery, this Fuji camera captures approximately 400 shots.

Focusing System:
The type of focusing system used to capture a sharp image. Some simple cameras have fixed (infinity) focus. Most modern cameras have autofocus systems which determine the distance to the subject automatically. There are two main types of autofocus: active autofocus, where an infrared light (or a sonar pulse) is emitted by the camera and reflected by the subject, and passive autofocus, where the image transmitted by the lens is analysed for its sharpness by a detector inside the camera.

Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
