When shooting on location, we don’t always have the luxury of ideal settings and conditions. So we have to make it work!

Learn some practical steps to develop and achieve consistency with your on-location portrait photography.  Neil will discuss real-world practical building blocks you can use to help you when challenged by tough lighting scenarios. Refine your technique and also define your own style in portrait photography. No vague feel-good fluff here, but actual info you can use!

By looking at the thought-process in how we set up an on-location shoot, we’ll look at posing and specifically the lighting (whether available light is enough or additional lighting is needed).  We will look at all the factors that have to come together for a successful portrait and a consistent style.

Though known for the photograph he took on September 11, 2001, Robert A. Cumins has worked as a well traveled photographer for more than 40 years. But it was this one image that would define his career more than anything else. The moment he stepped out to his ninth-floor balcony, 15 miles to the west, he shot a burst of images of United Airlines Flight 175, one taken a fraction of a second before the hijacked jetliner hit the south tower of the World Trade Center. That photograph landed on the cover of People Magazine, a double-page spread.
