If you have ever been on a shoot and wished your lens would zoom in just a bit more, perhaps a telecoverter would have been a handy tool. Telecoverters (synonymous with tele-extenders) offer an economic solution for increased focal length without the excess weight. Typical magnification factors come in 1.4x, 1.7x, 2x and 3x models. These extenders work best with faster lenses as they decrease the amount of light reaching film or a sensor. Not all lenses support telecoverters so it is imperative to check with the manufacturer to see if your lens is compatible.
