    Optics & Focus

    Optics:

The NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR Lens is a standard zoom lens, with a 24-75mm-equivalent zoom, & is designed for DX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras. It provides a wide-angle to portrait-length zoom range, making it well-suited for everyday shooting. The lens incorporates aspherical & extra-low dispersion elements, as well as Vibration Reduction image stabilization for sharper imagery during handheld shooting. Its stepping motor provides fast, quiet, & smooth autofocus performance, which applies to both stills & video applications. A programmable control ring is, by default, set to adjust manual focus, but can be set to control aperture or exposure compensation as well.

    Focus:

The Nikon Z50 features a 209-point Hybrid AF system, which combines the use of phase-detection & contrast-detection methods, to quickly & accurately obtain focus, during both stills & video applications. The focusing system supports Eye Detection AF, which uses facial recognition to lock focus onto your subject's eyes.

    Sensor & Screen:

    Sensor:

The Nikon Z50 Mirrorless Digital Camera features a DX-format 20.9MP CMOS sensor, which is paired with the EXPEED 6 image processor, to provide a blend of high sensitivity, high image-quality, & an overall fast performance. With a native sensitivity range, from ISO 100-51200, the Z50 is suitable for working in a variety of lighting conditions. Its sensitivity can be further expanded up to ISO 204800, for more extreme low-light shooting conditions. Clean image quality, as well as smooth color transitions, & reduced noise throughout the sensitivity range, are provided by the combination of the resolution & sensor size of the Nikon Z50. A full-resolution, continuous shooting rate of 11 fps, & 30 fps shooting at 8MP is possible, thanks to the EXPEED 6 image processor.

    Screen:

A large 3.2" LCD screen (1.04m-dot) with a 180º flip-under tilting design, is featured on the Nikon Z50 Mirrorless Digital Camera, to provide a bright, vivid, & clear view for image playback & live view shooting. Its tilting design is beneficial for front-facing selfie shots, & its touchscreen provides more intuitive navigation & operation of controls & settings.

    Image & Video

    Image:

The Nikon Z50 Mirrorless Digital Camera's 20.9 MP CMOS Sensor & EXPEED 6 image processor enable a fast performance up to 11 fps. Multiple Exposure mode is featured, to allow  you to combine multiple exposures into a single frame, for an even more creative effect. The Z50 features 20 Creative Picture Controls, & 10 Special Effects settings, which allow you to express yourself with even more options to choose from. In-Camera Image Editing allows you to fine-tune images & videos from your camera.

    Video:

The Nikon Z50 supports UHD 4K video recording at up to 30fps, & Full HD recording at up to 120fps, for slow-motion effects. This also allows you to save your movies to a separately available, external recorder, via the included HDMI port. In-camera time-lapse shooting can be used, with the ability to create a finished UHD 4K video file, right from the camera.

    Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
