    You have a digital camera and you know that the images are going to be far superior to the ones captured by your point-and-shoot camera, but maybe you're not sure how that happens.  This class is for beginners to amateur photographers looking to gain a better understanding of the automated modes and features, as well as the manual control and capabilities, of your digital SLR or mirrorless camera.

    Get instruction on the importance of understanding the fundamentals (such as depth of field, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation, metering, white balance, reading histograms, on camera flashes, lenses) and how they will affect your photos!

    In the second half of the class, the students will work with their cameras and apply what they have learned.  The buttons and settings will be much easier to manipulate and each student will have develop the ability to capture the images closer to their vision.

    *Please note that this class is NOT for point-and-shoot cameras.

    Join Unique Photo and celebrity photojournalist Bob Davis for an online mentoring workshop that will cover how to get the shot by mastering your off-camera flash and camera settings!

    Don't be afraid to shoot at high noon, inside that cave of a venue, or the dark streets at night. Bob will shoot with a model and demo his techniques live, showing how you can improve the quality of your photographs in-camera. Through mastering the light by position and shaping, you'll be able to create stunning images no matter the day, time, or location. Each session will build upon the last and feature "homework" assignments where you'll be able to share your images with Bob and fellow students. Leave your lighting worries behind and bring what you love -- your passion for learning! Session topics include:

    · Review of gear, light modifiers, radio triggers
    · Shooting concepts and techniques
    · Using speedlights, strobes, and combinations
    · High-speed sync and rear-curtain sync
    · Combining off-camera flash and available light
    · Image reviews and critiques

    WEDNESDAYS (2pm - 3:30pm EDT)

    If you are crunched for time and want to learn as much as you can about Photoshop as fast as you can, then this is the course for you! Learn the Basics of Photoshop with Certified Adobe Instructor Blake Taylor! Blake will review the essential tools to enhance your photographs.

    NOTE: Practice images will be provided. You will receive a take home booklet to reference when needed.

    WHAT TO BRING: Please bring 1-2 images you would like to work on. Each student will need a notebook (paper) and some type of storage and transfer media for image files to bring to and from class. Thumb drives or external pocket hard drives are all suitable.

    *Our digital lab has MAC desktops. If you'd prefer to bring your own laptop, please let us know ahead of time by emailing university@uniquephoto.com. We'll also be emailing you files that you'll need to download prior to the class date.

    Begin the day's photo excursion with a meet-up with Michael Downey at the Oculus. Its amazing architecture can be captured both as abstract and street photography.

    Afterwards, the group will move over to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. This historical exhibition has three parts: the Day of 9/11, Before 9/11 and After 9/11. It tells the story of what happened on 9/11, including the events at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and the story of Flight 93. The museum explores the background leading up to the events and examines their aftermath and continuing implications.

    *Registration includes museum admission.
    *Limited to 15 registrants.
