    In this class, Michael Downey will teach students how to manage additional lighting. The class will cover the pop-up flash built into DSLRs, as well as speedlites that go into the hot shoe.  You'll also learn how to use flash as the main, key, and fill light.  Flash compensation will also be discussed.

    Demonstrations include bouncing/reflecting flash, diffusing the light, and using flash for subject separation.

Learn how to find the Milky Way, what lens and settings to use, and how-to post-process the images for best results!

    WHAT YOU SHOULD ALREADY KNOW: Please have an understanding of ISO, shutter speed, aperture (FStop), and function buttons of your DSLR camera.  Please be able to access these functions in your camera in the dark.

    IMPORTANT NOTES:
    * Only 10 spots are available.  Register early!
    * You MUST be 16 years or older to attend.
    * Transportation is provided from and back to Unique Photo.
    * You will be shooting all night, though you may choose to sleep on the bus.
    * The setting is dark and wooded.  Dress appropriately, as if going for a hike.
    * We'll be a short distance from the road and no extensive hiking is required.

    Off Camera Flash Basics in Hoboken with Mike Zawadzki

    Off-Camera Flash Basics is a crash course on using speedlights and battery powered monolights. Students will learn the concepts of off camera lighting. Basic to Intermediate knowledge of camera and flash operation is required to get the most out of this class. Those who feel unsure should consider taking any of our beginner level classes, a flash class, or a Personal One-on-One lesson in advance. This workshop is taught by professional photographer, and Unique Photo Instructor: Mike Zawadzki

    Duration: 3 Hours
    Requirements: Camera, Speedlight. Basic knowledge of TTL/Manual Flash function. Intermediate experience shooting in "Manual" mode on a DSLR
    Suggested: Lightstand, Trigger Set, Umbrella/Grid/Softbox 

    (Gear will be demoed live in class, but it is nice to have your own specific gear explained 1 on 1.)
