    Get instruction on the importance of understanding the fundamentals (such as depth of field, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation, metering, white balance, reading histograms, on camera flashes, lenses) and how they will affect your photos!

    In the second half of the class, the students will work with their cameras and apply what they have learned.  The buttons and settings will be much easier to manipulate and each student will have develop the ability to capture the images closer to their vision.

    Light is the essential ingredient for all photography and to create beautifully lit portraits you need to understand how to use, shape and control light. This series of classes will give you the knowledge and skills to master an effective repertoire of lighting styles and setups that will improve your results and benefit your bottom line.

    This course of hands-on workshops is suitable for photographers of all levels who are truly interested in learning and advancing their techniques. The primary pre-requisite is that you know your camera and have a basic understanding of manual settings.  From working Professionals to serious amateurs, we will cover wide ranging topics, styles and gear and will shoot live during every class. From available light to constant lights to speedlights to studio strobes every possibility will be covered.

    2-Day Indoor and Outdoor Location Lighting with Rick Friedman

    Join award-winning photographer Rick Friedman for a 2-day, hands-on Location Lighting workshop!  If you attend Rick's class, you can plan on leaving feeling empowered to capture great images no matter what lighting situation you come up against!  This workshop begins with creating interesting light with one speedlight, progresses through using multiple speedlights with different light modifiers, and ends with mixing both speedlights and natural light.

    Architectural and HDR Photography at Bannerman Castle

    For those photographers who feel adventurous, your journey will begin at Torches Landing! From there we take you on a short boat ride over to the island on the Pollepel. Upon reaching the island, we will be greeted by our tour guide and our group will be given an escorted tour of the rugged little island. Our tour will include a lecture about the history of the island and plenty of opportunities for photographs. Our tour will take approximately one and one half hours (1 - 1/2 hrs) on the island, after which you will once again board the Pollepel for a short ride back to historic Newburgh or Beacon.
