  • Fall Foliage and Covered Bridges of Lehigh Valley with Ron Wyatt

    Class Code: UUU514

    Instructor:
    Ron Wyatt
    Skill Level:
    Everyone

The history of covered bridges in Pennsylvania can be traced back to European roots. The first covered bridge is thought to have been built in the mid 1300s between Germany and Switzerland. German immigrants brought the idea and design to this country. Covered bridges were usually named after the builders, local residents, or nearby businesses, which often were working gristmills along the waterways in the vicinity of the bridges. Bridges were covered to keep the plank roadways dry. Some also say the bridges were covered to resemble barns so that horses would be less hesitant to enter.

Join Ron Wyatt and Unique Photo for a day of exploring and photographing some of Pennsylvania's covered bridges in the midst of Fall and its vibrant foliage!  Of the 200+ covered bridges still standing in Pennsylvania, seven excellent examples are community treasures in Lehigh Valley.  Capture the romantic quality of a time when life moved more slowly.

    *Limited to 10 registrants.
*Van transportation is included and leaves promptly from Unique at 6:00am.
*There will be some walking at each covered bridge stop, so please wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
*Please bring your own lunch and snacks.
