Megapixels:
A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Overview

The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR with 24-105 mm IS USM Lens Kit, with its improved technology and array of features, is a must-have for amateur and professional photographers alike. The camera is equipped with a 30.4-MP full-frame CMOS sensor that enables you to shoot high-quality pictures under any light. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF ensures a smooth, responsive AF while shooting videos in the normal or Live View modes. Moreover, the 61-point AF system lets you focus on your subjects with immense precision. Detect flickering lights and get a precise exposure metering with the help of the 150,000-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor, which even enhances scene-recognition and face-detection capabilities. Lastly, the inbuilt WiFi and NFC connectivity options allow you to share content on select social media sites, compatible devices, and the Canon Connect Station CS100 device.

Optics and Focus

The 24-105 mm IS USM lens that comes along with the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV camera is constructed with 17 elements in 12 groups. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF performs a smooth, responsive AF while shooting videos in both normal and Live View modes. Also, the 61-point high-density reticular AF system allows you to focus on your subjects with a great deal of precision. The ISO sensitivity ranges from 50 to 102,400, whereas the shutter speed ranges from 30 seconds to 1/8000th of a second. Use the Digital Lens Optimizer technology for eliminating optical defects from the lens, such as diffraction, distortion, chromatic aberration, and peripheral brightness. The Metering methods, along with the White Balance and Exposure modes, are ideal for a range of photography situations.

Sensor and Screen

This EOS 5D Mark IV camera from Canon features a 30.4-MP full-frame CMOS sensor that lets you shoot high-quality pictures, notwithstanding the lighting condition. The 150,000-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor not only enhances face-detection and scene-recognition capabilities, but also provides precise exposure metering and detects flickering lights without much effort. The 3.2-inch Clear View II LCD touchscreen offers a 170° viewing angle and a resolution of 1,620,000 dots, which together present a high-quality view every time. The 21-mm Pentaprism viewfinder, which comes with a 0.71x magnification, lets you view subjects with immense clarity, even under bright sunlight. The coverage rating of the screen and viewfinder is 100% each.

Image and Video

This camera not only captures RAW and JPEG pictures at its maximum resolution of 6720 x 4480 pixels, but also records 4K videos at 30 fps in the MP4, MOV, MJPEG, and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 formats. The DIGIC 6+ image processor renders images at a high speed with stunning attention to detail. Shoot infinite JPEG and up to 21 RAW frames in a continuous manner at a burst rate of up to 7 fps. The Dual Pixel RAW function records all the vital information that the camera sensor's pixel architecture can deliver, and thereby fine adjustments can be made after the image is shot.

Other Features

The built-in WiFi and NFC connectivity options in the EOS 5D Mark IV camera let you share content with compatible devices, the Canon Connect Station CS100 device, and certain social media sites. For additional storage, your captured content can be saved in up to two CompactFlash and SD memory cards that go into the featured memory card slots. The built-in GPS module is useful for geotagging imagery in your camera, along with syncing time automatically with the help of the Universal Time Code via satellites. Powering this camera is a 1865 mAh LP-E6N rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery pack.

Elements / Groups:
The individual pieces of glass that form the overall optical construction. Most lenses have between four and eleven elements to bend the light rays to ensure a perfectly formed image appears on the light sensitive surface, such as a film or CCD. The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
