A megapixel is one million pixels. It is commonly used to describe the resolution of digital cameras. For example, a 7.2 megapixel camera is capable of capturing roughly 7,200,000 pixels. The higher the megapixel number, the more detail the camera can capture. Therefore, the megapixel count is a significant specification to look for when buying a digital camera.

Overview

The Canon EOS 80D DSLR Camera with 18–55mm and 55–250mm IS STM Lens is a practical equipment for professional photography. The camera comes with a 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor, which teams up with the DIGIC 6 image processor to shoot high-resolution photos with amazing clarity, sensitivity, and less noise. Use both the Dual Pixel CMOS AF and the 45-point All Cross-Type AF systems for automatically focusing on your desired subject with incredible speed and precision. The inbuilt NFC and WiFi connectivity options enable you to operate the camera remotely, as well as to transfer your photos and videos to devices with similar compatibility.

Optics and Focus

This Canon camera comes with two lenses: an EF-S 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6 IS STM lens and EF-S 55–250 mm f/4–5.6 IS STM lens, both from Canon. The Stepper Motor or STM focusing mechanism in both lenses ensures a near-silent focus with smooth, precise control, every time. Additionally, the Optical Image Stabilization in both lenses help minimize camera shakes so that you can shoot blur-free imagery at all times. Both the Dual Pixel CMOS AF and the 45-point All Cross-Type AF systems make it possible to get a quick focus on your desired subject. The ISO sensitivity of the camera is expandable up to 25,600, while the shutter speed ranges between 30 seconds and 1/8,000th of a second. Use the white-balance and exposure modes, as well as the metering methods, for assistance in a range of photography scenarios.

Sensor and Screen

The 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor of the Canon EOS 80D lets you capture stills with outstanding clarity, sensitivity, and minimum noise. Moreover, the 3-inch ClearView II LCD touchscreen comes with a resolution of 1,040,000 dots and a vari-angle design that ensures viewing at up to 170°. The 22mm pentaprism viewfinder, which offers a 0.95× magnification, makes it easy to view your scenes carefully, even in ambient lighting conditions. The viewfinder and screen offer a coverage rating of 100% each.

Image and Video

Apart from shooting RAW and JPEG images at a 6000×4000-pixel resolution, the EOS 80D from Canon records 1080p Full HD videos at 60 fps in the MOV and MP4 formats. The DIGIC 6 image processor is capable of rendering high-quality imagery with amazing performance. Further, with the Time-Lapse Movie mode, you may create a movie with combined stills of long-duration events, taken at fixed intervals. The anti-flicker function automatically compensates for flickering light sources so that you get consistent color and exposure values during continuous shooting. This camera lets you capture up to 25 RAW frames and 110 JPEG frames continuously at a burst rate of up to 7 fps.

Other Features

The Canon EOS 80D DSLR Camera’s built-in NFC and WiFi connectivity options allow you to control it remotely and transfer photos and footage to similarly compatible devices. In case you run out of space in the internal memory, you may expand the same by inserting an SDXC, SD, or SDHC memory card. The HDR effects, creative-filters, and picture-style settings let you express your creativity on your pictures. This camera runs on a 1,865 mAh LP-E6N rechargeable Lithium-ion battery pack.

The elements are arranged in groups and may be seen in specification sheets as, for example, 6 elements in 4 groups. That configuration may have two single elements and the other four grouped in pairs.
