This camera is an absolute powerhouse! The D800 is great for amateurs or professionals. The ease of use and straightforward controls will give any photographer peace of mind when shooting in many different situations. Buy an extra battery though, because it does tend to drain rather quickly. Other than that, I have no complaints. The picture quality is impeccable. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but when you start using the camera, you'll understand why... it's absolutely worth it!

This camera is a monster! I'm a new Nikon user. I recently upgraded from a Rebel T2i. I didn't have a ton of Canon lenses, so the switch wasn't difficult. The level of fine-detail in the images is amazing. The trade-off for all of the megapixels is the noise at high ISO's. I'm willing to live with that. I know some can't/won't.
