Although quiet in recent years and with the decline of film in the industry most people tend to forget that Kodak was at the forefront of the Digital Age. After developing the first Digital Camera in the 1970's, Kodak has been on the cutting edge of digital imaging. This latest patent violation is actually common for the lawyers at Eastman Kodak as they have also been involved in such cases with other companies such as Sony involving digital imaging sensors.

Cecil Stoughton was responsible for capturing a time in American politics that was filled with great hopes and aspirations but ended in the dawn of a darker time in our history. His images of JFK on weekend retreats, or his historic shot of him with his children playing in the oval office encapsulate the hopes and aspirations of a new chapter of of our nations politics and aspirations. "Camelot" was depicted through his eyes and came to an end with his images of Lyndon B. Johnson being sworn in as JFK's body was being flown out of Dallas signaled the end of what could have been. His later images of Johnson's administration became the images of politics during what was the beginning of the Civil Right's movement as well as the Vietnam conflict.

As digital became more and more popular it also became more cost efficient compared to conventional printing. Price per sheet on Dye-Sub printing is more expensive than the more popular Ink-Jet, however it is performed in a more timely manner and with a protective layer covering the print as part of the process, the life of the image and protection of the print are above and beyond what you would have in an Ink-Jet print. With a fast development time and digital media, Dye-Sub printing is ideal for wedding and event photographers who don't want to worry about ink cartridges running out or waiting for prints to dry. This latest update in Dye-Sub technology will close the gap of color and quality between Dye-Sub and Ink-Jet printing.

It is no surprise that Nikon is racking up a second consecutive J.D. Power & Associates award for customer satisfaction for Digital SLR's. There will always be an on-going battle between Nikon and other SLR camera manufacturers but Nikon has taken the unique approach of making SLR's available and affordable to photo enthusiasts. Between the countless Nikon Photo school's being ran across the nation as well as TV and Print media campaigns, consumers are more aware then ever the power and precision of digital SLR's and Nikon deserves the credit and recognition for being part of it.

That was a great concise and helpful summary. I hope you do more of these as you attend various conferences/presentations.

I admit as a novice who loves wildlife, that I am overwhelmed w/ the equipment that you and other wildlife photographers use. I have a tough enough timing affording, and then carrying around my D80 with 70-300VR. I was sooo proud that I saved my precious pennies to purchase this, and yet it seems so low on the totem pole of useful lenses . In my case the key is to become an expert at using the equipment I DO have while saving for future investments. I do like the idea of a 1.4xteleconverter....

I saw one of these in the store the other night and wondered what it was about- I agree that the sepia tone is a lovely rendering of a photo. I've never tried sepia in my film days because I worried about having to use a whole roll of sepia and not being able to take any color shots. With the advent of digital I do not have any concerns about that, so now I have an assignment for mid-winter..

I hope you'll forgive me if I make many comments and ask questions along the way?

Beautiful shot. It's amazing how the light has a golden/green tinge to it...

As a novice myself, I'm still often "duped" into taking photos in less than ideal conditions, but often it's because I am on a schedule and can't get back to the same spot later on- especially if I am traveling with my husband. I guess it's something I should plan more for in the future.

Do you do a great deal of post-processing?

Hi Adam,
Thanks so much for chatting with me last night at the superstore and showing me your excellent photos in the education room. I am greatly enjoying reading your blog so far and am definately going to sign up for one of your classes in the next 2 weeks (not to mention the last commenter apparently thinks very highly of your teaching!). Thanks again for being so approachable. I look forward to learning from you!
